![]() STANDING COMMITTEES
These committees meet monthly. Public Relations/Community Development Committee: The Public Relations/Community Development Committee promotes the Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce and the community through recognition of businesses and individuals who provide exceptional support and contributions for the improvement and betterment of the community. Plan and organize the annual Chamber Business Meeting and Dinner. Select businesses and individuals for various Chamber awards such as Business of the Month, Outstanding Public Service, Businesses of the Year, Total Citizen of the Year and other such honors. Promote new businesses in the area and provide information concerning membership in the Chamber. Meet the first Wednesday of each month at 1:00 PM at a specified location. Conservation Issues Committee: Recognizes that the wise use of natural resources is consistent with maintaining a viable business community. The mission of the committee is to investigate, inform and make recommendations to the Executive Director concerning environmental affairs. Active since late 1989, the Conservation Issues Committee deals with a variety of resource-related issues ranging from community recycling to federal land management. The committee’s areas of interest and ongoing or future projects include: Recycling, Coordinate Christmas tree recycling with various local entities, Helped to initiate drug-disposal program with Uintah County Sheriff’s Department, Energy and air quality, Promote energy and cost savings, reduce light pollution with efficient indoor/outdoor lighting, Support Idle Free Utah campaign, Promote community trails (e.g., Kids’ Canal parkway, county trails coalition), Encourage citizens/businesses to participate in conservation activities, and the Farmers Market held annual through summer months. Committee meets the second Thursday of each month at 8:00 a.m. in the Chamber of Commerce Conference Room Education: This committee will work with all educational institutions in Uintah County for the betterment of our educational system. The committee meets the 3rd Wednesday of the each month from 12:00-1:00 at the Utah State University Campus. Legislative Impact Committee: Uses the abilities, media access, knowledge and contacts the committee has to encourage or discourage legislative proposals that would potential impact commerce and industry in the Uintah Basin and more specifically the local area. Business Development Committee: Plan and coordinate quarterly seminars to provide opportunities to area businesses for expert training and information to assist with managing and improving business. |
AD HOC (EVENT) COMMITTEES
These committees meet on an as-needed basis. Trees for Charity: Annual event held the Monday after Thanksgiving. Auction of beautifully decorated trees to raise money for various charities. Water Conference: The opportunity to listen to Key note speakers and have educational break-out sessions about water. If you'd like to serve on a Chamber Committee, contact the Chamber today!
SEPARATE ENTITIES
Dinah-Mites: The Dinah Mites are the "good-will ambassadors" of the Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce by assisting with community events, ribbon cuttings, greeting business and civic leaders, promote relationships with neighboring counties and states and make an annual trip to contact Chambers outside the local area. Meet on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 1:00 PM at specified location. By invitation to Chamber members in good standing. Vernal Area Chamber Foundation: The Foundation owns and maintains the Schaefermeyer Building located at 134 West Main. They are responsible for the maintenance of the property and grounds. |
